Apartment Above Stark Industries, Valentine's Day

There wasn't a massive stuffed animal or way, way too many flowers waiting for Steve in the apartment this year. If only because Tony had learned his lesson about those. Kind of.

He hadn't learned his lesson about making reservations at places that Steve could never, ever learn the real price tag of.

And there were still just a few dozen roses in hiding for when Steve finished getting ready to go. Look, he was doing his best at being restrained here!

"What can I say? It's messy," Tony replied, repeating that lower down on his chest next.

Steve's eyes fluttered closed as he leaned back more fully against the pillows. "How messy?"

"That's up to you, my dear," Tony drawled, lucking a trail up Steve's stomach.

"Very," Steve whispered.

Tony hummed, leaving little trails of chocolate along Steve's stomach to slowly clean up. Because he had promised to do that and he was nothing if not a man of his word. "This ought to be illegal," he murmured, gesturing vaguely at all those muscles.

Steve blushed. "Miracle of science," he said.

"I am not complaining," Tony replied, grinning up at him.

Steve grinned back, still blushing. "I'm glad I make you happy."

"Oh, sweetheart. You always make me happy," Tony assured him, settling in between his legs.

"Always?" Steve said softly.

[imafuturist]

"Always," Tony promised.

[heroic_jawline]

Steve's expression eased slightly. "I'm so glad to hear that."

"Even when you clean out the fridge after going for a run," Tony said, kissing a trail up his stomach. "Or when you wake up at ungodly times--"

Tony felt anything prior to dawn was ungodly.

"Before 10, you mean," Steve teased.

"I love you dearly in spite of all that," Tony carried on as though Steve hadn't called him out so cruelly.

"I love you, too," Steve said, stroking Tony's cheek with his thumb. "In case I don't say it enough."

"You are," Tony replied, putting his hand over Steve's to kiss his palm. "Amazingly demonstrative."

"Too much?" Steve fretted.

"Perfect." It was coming from the guy who had to be restrained from buying another giant stuffed animal, so...

Steve smiled. "Well, have to make up for being all...me...in public, don't I?"

Repressed and from the '40s?

There was that, yes.

"Dashing and heroic?" he teased.

Steve pinked up. "Not comfortable with too much public affection," he mumbled.

"Some people just aren't fans of it," Tony said, pushing up along Steve's body to kiss him.

"I'm a huge fan of private affection," Steve said, sucking Tony's lower lip. "Huge."

"Nothing wrong with that," he murmured back before deepening the kiss.
