It was the beginning of a nice, quiet, thoroughly normal week for Tony. Which pretty much was a recipe for disaster when you were him. But a man could dream. He opened his eyes to JARVIS' usual morning alarm, already compiling a mental list of projects to work on today.

"High priority message on Avengers emergency channel," JARVIS informed him before he could do anything like contemplate going back to sleep for ten more minutes.

"The team?" he asked, rubbing his eyes as he sat up.

"In Wakanda, sir."

Oh right. He knew that. He'd been informed of that over the weekend and for some strange reason it had completely slipped his mind. Damn chemicals in the air.

"Alright, prep the suit and give me the details."

"The FBI headquarters in Houston, TX was attacked approximately one hour ago by a single perpetrator. Suspected metahuman of unknown variety. Believed to be extremely dangerous."

"Double time the prep and send a message to Cap and the others to let them know I have it handled," Tony said, not bothering to change out of his pajamas as he made his way down to the lab.

"Of course, sir."

It was going to be a day.

[establishy!]
imafuturist: (im - check out this suit)
When Tony had arrived in Texas, he'd been certain he could handle this on his own. That had been before he saw the damage one person had managed to do to the building and the people who had been inside it.

He was also very, very glad that his helmet covered his face so no one could see his queasy and horrified expression as another burned body was pulled out of the rubble. The suit filtered out the smell, but Tony's memory provided it despite that. What little security footage that had been taken before they were burned up, showed a man who could rip people apart with his bare hands and breathe fire. So. That was a new thing to worry about.

Maybe a little back up wouldn't be undue after all.

"Incoming call on your personal line. Caller identified as Dr. Maya Hansen," JARVIS said, giving him both a welcome distraction and a little normal confusion as to why she'd be reaching out to him now after all this time.

"Put her through."

[NFB, duh. Spamming you guuuuys like I do]

With some of the information Maya had given willingly and some of the things Tony had not so legally pulled from FuturePharm's systems, they were able to nail down a suspect's name, Mallen, and also that he was a member of one of the many angry, little militant groups floating around out there for the disillusioned and violent.

That sounded like a recipe for success in giving someone a super-soldier serum. Sure.

They'd also been able to track the car he was moving in, Mallen running way hotter than any human aside from Johnny Storm ought to.

"Pull back civilians as much as you can as soon as I engage," Tony said to the local PDs, hovering over the roadway as his HUD was tracking the location of the car.

This was going to get messy. And yeah, he really should have called the team in to help. But even if he had, they'd still have to make it back from Wakanda. So it was mostly on him. Because Marvel was good at handwaving teams away from problems that totally should have been handled by them and not a one hero.

Once the van carrying Mallen was isolated enough from the rest of the traffic, Tony swooped in, slicing it in half to separate him from the two men in the driver and front passenger seats transporting him.

[NFB still! Sorry, Tracy. One more today.]

So, Tony had better days than today. He'd managed to con his way into being taken to FuturePham rather than to a hospital like he really should. Going to a Stark facility would have just alerted Pepper and he really, really, really needed to fix this before dealing with her. Or the team.

Fingers crossed on not as much news coverage he he normally got. The fingers that were still able to move. Heh.

Okay, laughing at himself hurt, so he wasn't going to do that anymore.

[Last one for the day! Promise.]
