Well, the whole time in New Orleans had been... interesting. Yes, that was what Tony was going with as he navigated the weird, funhouse mirror versions of events from his own world taking place in Steve's. But now they were back home and waiting for any updates from Fury.

And Steve was, well, not taking the waiting well. Which was why Tony had sent him out for dinner and he was pretty sure Steve had gone into Brooklyn for it. On foot.

Just running out all the emotions in a perfectly healthy fashion.

"Got it in one," Tony said with a sigh. "Somehow a Norse God is much more palatable than a teenager who woke up one day being able to fly."

"Well, Thor looks like Thor," Steve said, "and people can be shallow."

Tony elbowed him gently for that. "It's fear."

Steve smiled softly back at him. "I know it's fear. I'm trying to work past my own."

"We'll figure it out," Tony promised. "You've got your team back."

"We're definitely moving in the right direction," he agreed, looking happier than he had in almost a year.

"What next?" Tony had to ask.

"Other than repealing the Accords?" Steve replied with a wry huff. "Maybe Ross not chasing us all over the country."

"Maybe he'll get distracted by his political career," Tony grumbled.

"Oh, I'm sure we're his dog and pony show," Steve said.

"Maybe we mess that up for him." Guys, no.

"I'm listening," Steve said, eating his ramen.

"Well, normally it'd be looking for dirt, but he's proud of that dirt," Ton said, gesturing with a pizza crust.

Steve snorted. "He's a piece of work."

Oooh, very harsh, Steve.

"That appeals to some people," Tony agreed with a sigh. "The same group that elected a disguised Red Skull."

Steve's eyes bugged out. "I'm sorry?"

"Oh yeah, that's a thing that happened back home," Tony replied.

"How?" Steve demanded.

"A very good disguise and people being very much the worst?" Did that sound about right?

"That's depressing," Steve admitted.

"Yes," Tony agreed, glumly eating another bite. "So, I guess I understand some of the fear."

"How long did he rule or did you figure it out quickly?" Steve asked.

"Oh, he only got to Secretary of Defense, no presidential run there."

"That's only a little reassuring," Steve said.

"Also, there was a red version of the Hulk." Tony was so helpful.
