Well, the good thing about being able to technopathically feel your psychotic, monster counterpart was knowing where they were in relation to you. Also when they suddenly stopped existing.

Tony sighed after the buzz in the back of his head had disappeared, hunkering down to find what else he could in case this... whatever it was... didn't go away just yet. He wasn't brooding over anything. No, of course not.

That would be silly.

Steve poked him again. "You didn't make us do anything."

Nope. Forced them into it. Gunpoint might have even happened. It was all very tragic.

Tony let out a sigh, finding a spot to stare at for a moment. "Yeah," he muttered. "Remind me not to go evil and crazy in the future, will you?"

Steve slung a companionable arm around Tony's shoulders--just shy of a headlock, but closer than a hug. "Of course."

Tony was just going to allow it because it was warm. Not because he needed any comfort. Don't be ridiculous.

"You're like a furnace," he muttered, latching onto non-emotional conversation.

"Yeah," Steve agreed with a smile. "Most popular guy in a foxhole. All the Commandos wanted to be with me when the temperature dipped."

"It's the tights, isn't it?" Tony teased, closing his eyes and smiling as well.

"I didn't wear the tights in the field, idiot," Steve said fondly.

"It's okay, your secret is safe with me," Tony assured him.

"I don't know why I put up with you," Steve said. He hadn't release Tony from a his sneaky sideways hug, though.

Tony was deeply put out by that. You could tell from all his complaining. And how he might have been slowly sort of melting into that. This is what happens when you put two deeply traumatized and touch starved people together. Though Tony liked to think he had himself under control.

"JARVIS, remember?"

"Okay, it's probably 60 percent JARVIS," Steve teased back.

"Only 40 percent? You're a cruel man, Rogers," Tony replied dryly. "He is going to stalk me for disappearing on him again."

Possibly Steve too.

"Oh, definitely," Steve agreed. "Once we return everything to normal."

Somehow.

"This place isn't done messing with us just yet." They still needed to have random fruitcake show up or something.

Steve sighed, sort of kind of resting his head on Tony's. "Terrific."

No big deal. Normal bro things.

"Keeps things exciting, though," Tony muttered, trying to keep from doing something silly like fall asleep here.

Steve yawned. "I could do with a little less excitement."

"What would you rather be doing right now?" Tony asked, not at all smiling at the yawn.

This was going to end in using Steve's chest as a pillow. But he was asking for it. Having a chest like that.

"Taking a hot shower, then eating that ridiculous steak from vacation," Steve said.

[imafuturist]

"I think someone cried when you finished that thing," Tony informed him with a little snicker.

"Probably the chef," Steve said with a lopsided grin in return.

His stomach gurgled again. He ignored it.

"Sorry." There seriously would be so much food ordered once things were put right. "Try not to eat a blanket in the meantime."

"I've been much hungrier than this and never eaten a blanket," Steve said, meaning to be reassuring.

So much food, Steve.

Tony made a noise that could be considered annoyed and not distressed. If one were to be kind about it. "Of course."

Steve ruffled his hair. "It'll be fine, Tony."
