Well, the good thing about being able to technopathically feel your psychotic, monster counterpart was knowing where they were in relation to you. Also when they suddenly stopped existing.

Tony sighed after the buzz in the back of his head had disappeared, hunkering down to find what else he could in case this... whatever it was... didn't go away just yet. He wasn't brooding over anything. No, of course not.

That would be silly.

"Sorry." There seriously would be so much food ordered once things were put right. "Try not to eat a blanket in the meantime."

"I've been much hungrier than this and never eaten a blanket," Steve said, meaning to be reassuring.

Tony made a noise that could be considered annoyed and not distressed. If one were to be kind about it. "Of course."

Steve ruffled his hair. "It'll be fine, Tony."

"You have such a vendetta against my hair," Tony grumbled rather than address that.

"It's ridiculous," Steve said fondly.

Tony sighed, loosely putting an arm around Steve's stomach to poke him in the ribs. "Jealousy. Such an ugly emotion, Rogers."

"I'm not jealous," Steve said, closing his eyes again. It was surprisingly cozy like this under the blankets. "I don't get jealous."

This was not true.

Cozy was a good word for it. Even with the whole... awfulness going on.

"Lose that with the serum?" Tony teased quietly.

"Never really had anything that someone could take from me," Steve admitted.

Tony hummed at that. "That's alright. I'll even it out for you."

"I don't need your help, Tony," Steve said, but without heat.

Tony cracked an eye open to... well... mostly look at Steve's chest. Looking up meant moving. "That's the thing about friendship," he muttered. "Still gonna offer it."

Steve's laugh rumbled through his chest. "Yeah, I've learned that about you."

"I'm annoying like that," Tony agreed amicably.

"Not that annoying," Steve said softly.

"Careful, Rogers. People will talk," Tony replied. Like the fact that they were in a superhero puppy pile wouldn't.

"I have never cared what people had to say," Steve said, making himself more comfortable.

Which meant Tony had to tighten his arm around Steve to stay where he was. "You're like a patriotic Mary Poppins."

Steve laughed again. "Just what I've always wanted," he teased.

"If your shield turns out to be a bag of holding, I'm going to be so annoyed." One day Steve would understand how nerdy Tony got when tired. One day.

"Into a what?" Steve asked.

"D&D thing," Tony replied easily. "Remember that locker that ate a student?"

"And no one seemed all that upset about it?" Steve replied.

"It was a strange week." Understatement. "But it's like that. Only a bag."
