Tony had started the day working on some coding with the television on in the background to provide a little noise. And to make it seem less weird that he was mostly just staring at a tablet and coding with his brain. But whatever.

But that somehow turned into watching the background noise. Which turned into 'I could do that' after a few episodes.

And that would be why Tony had a fine dusting of either flour or confectioner's sugar turning his hair a bit grey as he frowned down at the collection of ingredients.

"I have a masters in chemistry, this shouldn't be so difficult," he grumbled to himself.

Steve was never allowed into the lab when Tony was working with fire now.

"I've handled worse," he replied, looking more amused than annoyed than he normally might be in the situation.

"That's not a ringing endorsement, Stark," Steve said.

"I'll let it cool down before figuring out how I turned it into a bomb," Tony promised, glancing down at Steve's shirt and the fact that he totally won the impromptu wet t-shirt contest there.

Which was only a little distracting.

"Want to grab some towels?"

Steve glanced down at his undershirt and blushed. Hard. "Sure," he said, taking the shield with him. "I'll go put this down, too."

"Unless we think the microwave will seek revenge," Tony teased, running his fingers through his hair to get it out of his face now that it was wet.

Steve came back in, completely shirtless, looking concerned. "That a possibility?"

Clearly it was laundry day and he was out of smedium undershirts.

"Well, our lives and this island," Tony said, eyes going a little wide for just a moment as he glanced over at him.

Steve blushed. "Stopped halfway through changing," he mumbled, dropping his shield into a non-hugely-singed part of the kitchen.

"Of course," Tony agreed a little faintly before focusing back on the kitchen.

His full focus was on the kitchen. Yep.

"Towels?"

"You need me to bring some?" Steve guessed. "Don't think it's gonna help your hair any."

Well, that certainly helped keep him focused.

Tony shot him a look for that. "To keep the water damage to a minimum," he replied dryly. "You have such a vendetta against my hair."

"You haven't seen what it looks like right now," Steve said with a smirk. "Back in a sec."

Tony took that time to attempt looking at his hair in the reflection of... well, there was nothing in the kitchen that wasn't wet or singed. "JARVIS?"

"...You have a good personality," JARVIS replied diplomatically as Tony attempted to frantically fix his hair with his fingers.

"How'd Cap themed towels end up in the closet?" Steve called out, dropping them onto the counter and heading back out to get a shirt.

Finally.

"They were out of Iron Man," Tony shot after him, abandoning his quest in order to start soaking up as much of the water as he could with just towels.

Which helped a little.

"Well, looks like I'm repairing the kitchen this week," he muttered to himself.

"Bet they had a ton of Hawkeye," Steve replied with a grin as he came back into the kitchen wearing a shirt with the Hulk on it.

Which just made Tony grin back at him a little. "Limited edition run for Barton's stuff," he said, using the last towel left on himself. "Well, what have we learned here?"

"Not to bake pie in a microwave?" Steve said.

"I was going to go with 'find out what made it explode' but yes," Tony replied with a laugh.

"Your pie crust," Steve teased. "I'm sure that was it."

Tony tossed his towel at him for that. And the alliteration. But mostly for the bad joke.

"I'm going to change, smart guy."

"I'm going to clean up in here," Steve said, wrinkling his nose up.

"Get rid of the microwave and I'll help with the rest," Tony called over his shoulder.

"Microwave to the lab or to the trash?" Steve asked.

Howard had trained him well. Not that he'd say that out loud.

"Lab!"

That was a little muffled because Tony was struggling out of a wet shirt. Sorry, Steve.
