Washington D.C., Memorial Day - Monday Afternoon

Though they'd spent the first half of the day with Steve's obligations and Tony going to visit Rhodey and Carol, now they were meeting back up in D.C. in an attempt to make the day a little less somber for a whole variety of reasons between the two of them.

Tony tried his best not draw attention to himself in the classic sunglasses and baseball hat method as he waited along the parade route for Steve to arrive.

It was super effective. Kinda.

Just go with it, okay?

"I promised you hot cocoa if you couldn't sleep," Tony said, staying close for another gentle kiss.

"That would be wonderful," Steve murmured.

"C'mon," Tony said, tugging on his arm. "Get some pants on, buddy. I'll make sure you get extra marshmallows."

"Best ever," Steve said sincerely, kissing him between the eyes.

"And then we can put on a movie," Tony said, smiling as he pulled away. "Bring a blanket and I'll get started on the cocoa."

"Yes, sir," Steve murmured, smiling back as he reached for a new, non-crunchy, set of sweatpants.

And Tony slipped on boxers and a shirt of Steve's because he was predictable like that. "I think we need to watch some terrible scifi."

"That sounds good," Steve agreed, getting out of bed and pulling the blanket with him to take into the living room.

"I can introduce you to Mystery Science Theater!" Tony called after him, making a beeline for the kitchen.

"Sounds interesting!" Steve called back before making himself a comfortable next on the sofa in the living room.

It was the only reasonable response to trauma. Blanket nests.

Tony didn't take too long to join him, opting for the classic instant hot cocoa rather than homemade this time around. "Its best for late nights."

"Silly and mind-numbing?" Steve guessed, snuggling in against Tony's shoulder.

"Very silly," Tony replied, pressing the large mug of cocoa into Steve's hands and leaning back. "Lets start with a classic... J?"

The TV started up with cheesy graphics of a moon base and the like.

Steve cradled the mug in his hands to warm them up. "Theme song's catchy," he said with a tiny smile.

Tony grinned, pressing a quick kiss just below Steve's jaw. "You'll be singing it for weeks," he promised. "Might be worse than the Star Spangled Man with the Plan."

"Nothing is worse than that song," Steve said, sighing happily.

"I still think it's catchy," Tony assured him, resting his head on Steve's shoulder as bots on screen began to mock one of the worst movies ever made.

"You would," Steve said, kissing the top of Tony's head.

"Reminds me of you. Of course I would," Tony shot back with a grin.

"Sap," Steve said fondly, kissing him.

"You love it," Tony said, kissing him back. The stuck close for another kiss and a playful little lick at the corner of his mouth. "You taste like chocolate."

Steve's skin went goosebumpy despite the blanket and he smiled. "So do you."

Tony smiled back, smaller but so very fond before he closed the distance between then to nip at Steve's bottom lip.

Steve sighed happily, sliding one hand around Tony's neck and kissing back.

"I really need to buy that chocolate body paint for you," Tony muttered, grabbing the mug from Steve's hands to put it down before they spilled it everywhere.
