Apartment Above Stark Industries, Thursday Afternoon

So, Tony's day went from waking up in his very own apartment with his very own lab rather than the MIT dorms, but on the plus side... Captain America.

Who apparently lived here too. Which was totally A Thing.

But you know what? he was gonna be just fine with it. He was not going to freak out at all. Because Captain Freakin' America.

Captain Freakin' America needed a very, very large coffee today, which was why he was beelining to the kitchen and pouring out whatever was in the pot--cold, sludgy, he didn't care--into a nearby mug and hiding behind it as he drank.

"So. How'd you like class?"

Very normal and very cool conversation to have with his fiancé, yes.

"It was cool." Oh, look at him trying to be all kinds of aloof here. Precious.

It was very adorable, even if Steve was trying not to find it all that adorable. "I'm glad to hear it," Steve said. "I worry that I don't really get teenagers."

The "Rapping with Cap" PSAs had definitely not helped with that.

Oh god, Steve. This version of Tony must never find that.

"Is that why you're, you know, here?" Because, seriously now, shouldn't you be hanging out with Howard or something?

The one about healthy breakfast choices was especially uncool.

"Something like that," Steve said, sipping his wretched coffee. "SHIELD Director sent me here to acclimate to the new century. As long as I learn faster than the kids I'm teaching, everything's fine."

"Oh. That's cool." Was it?

Steve grinned. "Thanks. I still get tripped up on things, though. I missed a lot."

"So, you're back and you're here. And I'm here." That was totally fate. Or a Howard thing. Might just be a Howard thing. "Helping?"

Was he helping? Please tell him he was helping.

Steve's smile deepened. "Definitely helping," he said. "You're the biggest help."

"Yeah?" Oh god, he squeaked. Tony cleared his throat and tried again for aloof. "I mean. Yeah. Of course."

He was so cute. Not that Steve would say so because it was inappropriate. "You're especially good at explaining how to make my phone work," Steve said, who was suddenly grateful the lock screen was a picture of Patriot and not the two of them together.

"I mean. Technology's sort of my thing, you know?" Smoooooth, Stark.

"I've noticed," Steve said. "Do you have anything new to show me?"

Oh god, he was being put on the spot. "Well, the AI guy here won't let me into the lab for some dumb reason," Tony said with a greatly put upon huff.

Because JARVIS didn't want to break time or something. Ugh.

"Thank you, JARVIS," Steve said, smiling at the ceiling.

"Of course, Captain."

Tony just rolled his eyes.

"I'm sure there's something you can help me with, though," Steve said. "Oh! Netflix. I can never figure it out."

Steve was fibbing.

"I can do that!" He hadn't a clue what Netflix was.

Fortunately for him, Netflix was noooot that complicated. Steve sat down on the sofa--dodging a lapful of ecstatic Patriot--and handed Tony the remote. "It's the red N."

"Is he yours?" Because god knew Tony wasn't allowed a pet.

"Yes, but he loves you just as much," Steve said as Patriot tried to cover Tony's hand in licks.

That made him perk right up as he attempted to pet the dog, but was thwarted by licks at every pass. "He's cute."

Which wasn't cool at all to say out loud, was it?

"I mean. You know. For a dog."

"His name is Patriot," Steve said, grinning, "and he sometimes falls asleep inside my shield."

"Oh god, that's even cuter," Tony had to whisper at the dog.

Patriot was wagging his tail so hard he was almost falling off the sofa. Steve laughed. "He wraps most people around his paw pretty much immediately."
