Apartment Above Stark Industries, Thursday Evening

So, it was one of those days yet again. Of course, this time it fell on Tony's birthday, which was new.

But Tony was just going to power on through that and have a nice evening with pizza and beer that had to be ordered and picked up in person because of the phones. So, it was basically a homecooked meal at that point, right? Right.

"I haven't missed this one," Tony said, dropped the order onto the kitchen table once he got in.

"Me either," Steve said, tossing his phone to the side with a little grimace.

Tony immediately abandoned the food to give him a kiss for that. "At least you were able to make it home in time for class and dinner."

"I wouldn't have missed it," Steve promised, kissing him back. "Happy birthday. Did you get my message?"

"Yes," Tony said, smiling into that next kiss. "I'm glad it managed to get to me through everything."

"Good," Steve said. "I meant it."

Tony smiled again, tugging him into another kiss. "You're the very best husband."

"Do you have a lot of other husbands to compare me to?" Steve teased.

"Oh, oodles," Tony assured him with a serious look, patting his hand on Steve's chest and nodding. "Didn't I think to mention them?"

"Are they all also named Steve?" Steve teased. "Could explain why they slipped your mind."

"One on every multi-dimensional island," Tony said, struggling now to maintain that serious look.

"Well, if they're all me, is it really cheating?" Steve teased.

"Ooo, good point," Tony replied, pulling him along to get him fed.

Steve squeezed his fingers and was happily dragged. "What'd you get us?"

"Pizza. I wanted to have a nice, low key birthday. Just you and me," he said with a quick grin.

Steve grinned back. "Well, aside from the phone calls, you got what you wished for."

"Very much so," Tony replied, pulling their joined hands up to kiss the back of Steve's.

Steve let out a long breath. "I missed you this week."

"We'll call more," he promised. "I thought I was being too dramatic at missing you more this week."

He was, but it was mutual!

"I think we got spoiled by two weeks of being together," Steve said.

"We really did," Tony agreed. "It was so nice, though."

[heroic_jawline]

"Yeah," Steve said, smiling. "Tony passes along his congratulations and begs us to never, ever share details."

[imafuturist]

That made Tony laugh at least. "I won't go for overnight visits anymore."

Steve didn't hide his disappointment at that. "Really?"

"We'll get a hotel, but not in your dorms."

Steve, you traumatized your team.

Maybe a little! Poor, poor other Tony.

"Oh," Steve said, nodding. "That makes sense."
