Well, the whole time in New Orleans had been... interesting. Yes, that was what Tony was going with as he navigated the weird, funhouse mirror versions of events from his own world taking place in Steve's. But now they were back home and waiting for any updates from Fury.

And Steve was, well, not taking the waiting well. Which was why Tony had sent him out for dinner and he was pretty sure Steve had gone into Brooklyn for it. On foot.

Just running out all the emotions in a perfectly healthy fashion.

A very, very, very long walk.

"I'll get plates," Tony offered, getting up to kiss him on the cheek and give Steve's bicep a squeeze.

"Do you like Lebanese food?" Steve asked a little belatedly.

"I can't remember the last time I had it, but I'm willing to give it a try," Tony called back. "Did we get a new place in Baltimore?"

You went to Baltimore, right? Right?

There was a long, guilty pause. "I went to Brooklyn."

You know, in case his phone wasn't working in Fandom and Tony was trying to call him. Like a normal person would!

"Okay." Okay. That was... okay. "And are you feeling any better now?"

Steve nodded. "My legs are tired."

That's a lot of walking, Steven. A LOT.

"Go sit with the dog," Tony suggested. "I'll make a plate for you."

A giant plate.

"No calls," Steve said, just in case Tony was wondering. "Or texts, since it's not the 90s."

"It's only been a day," Tony said like that made up for it.

"I have faith that Fury can find things out when he's motivated," Steve said.

"I do too," Tony replied, bringing him an absolute pile of food on that plate.

Steve gave the mountain of food a little smile. "This looks good. Get yours too?"

"Did you think I could carry anything else with this?" Tony teased "I have to go back."

Steve chuckled softly. "Don't pull any muscles retrieving it," he teased. His multi-mile walk had calmed his mind down a bit.

"I'm not that out of shape," Tony replied, leaving him and the dog alone as he went to get his own eclectic mix of food.

And, during that brief little period of being alone, the phone, yes that phone chimed with a simple: Thanks.

Steve jumped in his seat, read the text and grinned at the word there for an embarrassingly long time. It never sat right with him when he and Tony were at odds. It happened frequently, but he didn't enjoy it. He texted back an immediate, Of course. Has F been in contact?

No. But then came, But Fri is tracking him for me.

Good. I don't think he would've told us about our...neighbors...if he'd had any other choice.

Which meant Tony agreed with that.

Steve huffed a laugh at that reply. I don't enjoy fumbling my way in the dark. Tell Fri thanks

"Good message?" Tony asked as he got back from the kitchen.

Steve smiled at the phone, then at Tony. "Tony reached out."

"We ready to head out?" Because maybe Fury really did work that fast!

"Not yet," Steve said, still smiling. "He wrote anyway."
