NYC, Thursday Afternoon

Today was his and Steve's wedding anniversary and Tony, for once, wasn't going over the top with it. And that was actually his gift to Steve for today.

It was a very simple day of finding a food truck that they liked and going to The Met like tourists.

...he'd end up buying a chateau in Steve's name by the end of the day. But for now, it was simple!

"Chopped cheese first," Steve declared, dragging Tony behind him by the hand.

"Why am I not surprised you'd pick the Bodega classic?" Tony asked, only having to jog a little to keep up.

"Because we've had pizza pretty recently and chopped cheese doesn't travel well," Steve said with a grin.

[imafuturist]

"It's very much a thing you eat right away," Tony agreed. "Alright, alright. Chopped cheese it is."

But the dosa guy was right there! Next time.

"And we'll come back for a dosa," Steve added.

"And that is why you're my favorite," Tony replied brightly.

Steve smiled at him. "This is a swell anniversary."

"Yeah?" Tony replied with a pleased smile.

"Yes," Steve said. "This is perfectly low-key."

"I'll cancel the fireworks then." We're there fireworks? It was a sort of Schroedinger's Sugar Daddy situation.

"...there were fireworks?" Steve asked.

[imafuturist]

"Not anymore." Because it would have been weird.

[heroic_jawline]

"Fireworks for my birthday is plenty," Steve declared, handing Tony his chopped cheese sandwich.

"That's cheating, the fireworks always happen on your birthday," Tony replied, gladly taking the piping hot sandwich.

Steve beamed at him. "Yes, they do. And that way they aren't just for me."

Tony huffed before digging into his sandwich. "Well, maybe I'll have them spell out Happy Birthday Steve this year."

Steve blushed. "Not over the whole city!"

[imafuturist]

"Half the city?" Tony suggested.

[heroic_jawline]

Steve took a bite of his sandwich, then another. "Over the tower," he countered.

"Deal," Tony replied without hesitation. This was already winning.

"Darn," Steve said, realizing he'd been played. Fortunately he had an amazing sandwich to comfort him!

"You love it," Tony said, kissing him quickly. "Mmm. Greasy."

[heroic_jawline]

"You love it, and I love making you happy," Steve said, kissing him back. "Let's get some dosas."

[imafuturist]

"And then we can pay too much to check our coats at the Met," he replied.

"That's the third best part of the Met," Steve said.
