Having a birthday on the 4th of July when you were also Captain America was A Thing. A hilarious, terrible thing.

But that didn't stop Tony (mostly Jan) from throwing him a birthday party with more doubles than strictly necessary. Their friend groups were weird.

The barbeque had gone one since the afternoon and now it was finally getting dark enough for the fireworks to cap off the celebration.

Tony staked out a couch for them both to enjoy the show now that it was slightly less unbearably hot. "C'mon, birthday boy."

"Mead?" Tony asked, making a face. Clearly he'd never tried this kind before.

"It's strong enough to knock me over," Steve murmured with a smile as they walked towards the elevator. "Give it a tiny, careful try?"

Tony raised his eyebrows at that, holding his hand out for the ye olde bottle of mead. "Lets see."

Steve grinned as Thor handed it over. "Be careful," he repeated.

"Will do, Point Break," he said before taking a swig. And making a face like he'd just drunk moonshine. "Wow."

"Told you," Steve said, chuckling.

"Wow," he said again, finally wheezing.

"Good, huh?" Steve said, reaching for the bottle only half for Tony's own safety.

"You've had this before?" Tony asked, easily giving up the bottle.

Also for his own safety.

"I think my tongue is going numb."

"That's how you know it is working, my friend!" Thor boomed. "Why have we approached the elevator? Am I to race it using Mjölnir?"

Well, there was a terrible idea.

"And I've been beat on the bad ideas scale," Tony said brightly.

RED LETTER DAY.

Steve burst out laughing, taking a drink from the bottle. "And the mead hasn't even kicked in yet."

He looked at Thor suspiciously. "Unless you've been holding out on us, friend."
