Tony was regretting the number of dogs he'd ended up with here. Mostly because he was presently covered in them as he tried to go through work emails. Tried was the key word there because they were being needy and competitive for the attention he could provide.

"Steve, you can turn back any moment now," he just sighed as he was up to his neck in fur.

It'd be so nice if things worked that way, wouldn't it?

Tony winked at him, moving past to get a drink. "Want anything, darling husband o'mine?"

Laying it on thick there, Stark.

Steve blinked, then grinning, playing along. "You know what I like. Snookums."

Tony mouthed 'snookums', trying to keep his laughter quiet as he grabbed juice from the fridge. "That I do, darling."

The Mid-Atlantic accent on that word was just fully necessary. For the bit.

Steve was transported to someplace snotty and coastal. "Thanks so much, pookie."

"Pookie," Tony laughed. But he couldn't be topped on this! He had to win! "Yes, my love bug."

Steve burst out laughing. "This is ridiculous."

"I thought it was romantic," Tony insisted, offering him a glass. "Are the petnames not hitting?"

"Not these particular ones, no," Steve said with a grin. "Honey bear."

"Angel pie," Tony shot back with a grin.

Steve finished the fries. "Tater tot," he retorted.

Oh, Tony had to rack his brains now. "Sweet buns."

Steve grinned. "Hot stuff?"

Tony sighed and threw a napkin at him. "You win."

Steve laughed. "This time. Next time you'll have a prepared list."

"Would I do something like that?" Yes. Shamelessly.

"You would absolutely do that," Steve said, leaning in to steal a kiss.

"Just a little bit," he murmured into that kiss.

Steve kissed him again. "I love that about you."

"Keeps you on your toes," Tony agreed, arms around Steve's waist for that.

"I definitely love that part about us," he said. There was a rock-solid trust under the relationship that allowed for the teasing and silliness.

After eight years together, it better be. Sometimes they needed to just be idiots and not worry about their image.

"It's pretty great."

Steve paused for another kiss. "Something just for us," he said quietly.

Captain America didn't get to be goofy in public.

Tony kissed him back gladly. "I'm not sharing it, thanks."

"I don't want to be selfish," Steve said, "but some things are just for us."

"I think we're allowed to be selfish in our own relationship," Tony replied. "No one deserves to know anything about it."

Said the guy who was hounded by paparazzi and therefore had a reason to hide things.
