Penthouse Apartment of the Attempted Stark Tower, Sunday Morning

Well, Tony was back from being a cat for over a week. And he only vaguely had the urge to knock things off tables and bump his head into Steve's shoulder for attention. Which was reasonable and normal for their lives.

But, to make up for being gone, he'd picked up donuts on his way back from the radio station. Did it make up for leaving Steve to hold down the fort that whole time? Eh, 50/50 on that one. But he was trying anyway! "Steve?"

"I'm in the kitchen!" Steve called back.

"I brought food," he called back, going to find him. "And hopefully the squirrels are less mad at me."

Steve laughed. "They deserved to be a little harassed," he decided.

"Ta-da!" he said, presenting the box of donuts. Like a bribe.

"Donuts!" Steve said happily, because he was easily bribable with food.

It worked in Tony's favor, thank you.

"Since you were stuck with a cat for a week and all."

"You were a very cute cat, and only bossed the dogs around for it half of the time," Steve said.

Tony snorted and gave into the irresistible urge to smash his forehead into Steve's shoulder. "Well, thankfully they didn't try to kill me."

"They wouldn't dare," Steve laughed. "Though I think Patriot thought about it when you claimed the shield to nap in."

"It was surprisingly comfortable," Tony admitted.

"Probably not now," Steve teased, leaning in for a kiss.

"I'll graciously pass now," Tony agreed, enjoying the kiss.

"Though it would be fun to see you try," Steve admitted, nipping Tony's lower lip.

"Nope," Tony said with a playful shove. "I'll take all the donuts, so help me."

Steve gasped dramatically and reached for the donut box. "Fiend!"

"Out of the kindness of my heart, I'm sharing," Tony sighed.

"That's very generous of you," Steve teased.

"I'm a kind, loving man," Tony said, opening the box for Steve to peruse.

"You are," Steve said, smiling approvingly at the box, then at Tony. "Two Boston creams!"

"So we don't fight over it," Tony said, nodding solemnly.

Because they would. It would be bad. And messy.

"Would we do that?"

With great vigor, and Steve knew that.

Tony just gave him a look for that. Because the last time ended in a broken coffee mug in the struggle for the best donut in the box.

And maybe a little bit of very mature kissing on the kitchen island.

All of their fights eventually ended in kissing. It was such a comfort to Steve. He grinned back. "Okay, we'd do that."

He nodded, pleased that Steve agreed on that. "Which is why I thought ahead this time."

Also the cat thing.

"Genius," Steve said fondly, leaning in to kiss him again.
