The Bitty Version of Stark Tower, Sunday Morning

Well, Steve invited Thor to come live with them at the tower. Well, kind of Thor? Tony hadn't really gotten the details of that whole deal, but was different enough for him to assume this was another universe version, but who was he to ever turn down a friend? Alternate universes and all be damned!

Which was why Tony managed to go snag some pastries from the shop in town to bring as a sort of welcome basket. Also because it was an incredibly awkward holiday for him and he was just going to do some stuff to avoid it.

So he put the food down in the common area kitchen of the guest suites and then frowned at the lack of coffee before getting that started. "J, make sure to double the grocery delivery, okay?"

"He did," Don confirmed. "One of these days he'll learn that not everything can or needs to be a walkup." One of these days. Don was sure of it. "So you've been here a while?" Long enough to build a baby Stark Tower and marry Steve Rogers.

"More than a few really," Tony admitted. "After a whole thing with Galactus?"

He said it with the tone of someone who had a lot of people stare blankly at him for using that name.

Great news! Don was not one of those people. "Oh, that guy. That's always a fun guy." Note sarcasm.

"Oh thank god, Steve has never heard of him," Tony said, latching onto this. "But a lot of people seem to be from his reality, just... different parts of the timeline? The closest I've found to mine has been Kitty in town. X-Men Kitty?"

God, please say you know what the X-Men are, Don.

"Steve's never heard of Galactus?" What kind of humdinger reality was Steve even from? "Kitty's not ringing a bell...wait, is she the one who kept changing her code name? Walks through walls, right?" Was he in the ballpark, Tony? Please tell him she'd settled on one singular codename in the last decade or so.

"Yes!" Tony said, so, so glad to have someone who got it. "They don't have mutants where Steve is from."

Let that one sink in.

"She's also married to Clint Barton."

Was his expression one of 'you know, the man who has been fished out of dumpster more than once?' in the vain hope Don understood the version he was familiar with.

"They don't have mutants?" Don echoed, horrified. "What did they do?!"

He'd catch up to the Clint Barton thing eventually.

"Well, Wanda and Pietro, but... no Magneto has been mentioned," he replied with a concerned little frown. "I just had to explain this to Remy--Gambit! That's the codename I couldn't remember. He's also new in town."

"I don't know Gambit," Don was forced to admit. "He might have been...after my time."

His brain had caught up to the 'Clint's married to Kitty' thing now, but mostly he wanted to ask what had happened to Bobbi, and was more than a little afraid Tony's response would be 'Who?'

Oh no, she existed for him. But she was Veranke. Just... just go with it.

"I try to keep up on things in case there's another Galactus level thing," Tony admitted. "How... I'm sorry if this is forward, but how are you related to Thor?"

Don's first instinct was to say something like, We are both children of Mjolnir, but he was pretty sure that was the isolation of the void talking, so he paused, evaluated, then said, "It's a really long story."

"Well, I just put on a pot of coffee." And it would be the second pot Tony would drink today, obviously.

"Coffee." Yes, Don could be normal about coffee, but why bother in front of Tony Stark? "Oh, man, I missed that stuff."

"Been away from it?" he asked, already digging around for where the mugs were stored.

[ifwebeworthy]

"Well, I was dead, so..." You know how it goes, right, Tony?

[imafuturist]

"...that's a new one," Tony admitted. Look, his version was still fresh and new!

"Really?"

[imafuturist]

"Unless it's Hank, but he faked his death and it's... a thing." A whole ass thing.

[ifwebeworthy]

That sounded like Hank. "Where I'm from it feels like half the people I know have died and come back at some point." Because comics.

And then some people decided not to let the dead rest in peace and made cyborg clones of them, Tony. Ugh, he was just going to have to ask about it, wasn't he? "You don't...happen to have any of Thor's genetic material laying around anywhere or anything, do you?"

"What?" No, seriously now. What?

"Because if you do, you should destroy that. Now." Or Don would not be responsible for the consequences.

"Okay?" Tony said, slowly putting a mug down for Don. "I don't think they'll ever be an issue?"

Look. He was but a sweet, baby child compared to your Tony!

He'd only had his armors go berserk and try to kill Steve once, he was like an infant.

"I know it could be."

Precious baby boy!

"Coffee?"

Right, yes, coffee. "Please." That might have come out a little too emphatic.
