Tony was regretting the number of dogs he'd ended up with here. Mostly because he was presently covered in them as he tried to go through work emails. Tried was the key word there because they were being needy and competitive for the attention he could provide.

"Steve, you can turn back any moment now," he just sighed as he was up to his neck in fur.

It'd be so nice if things worked that way, wouldn't it?

"They'll settle in," Tony said with a nod. "I'm sure of it."

"They just need a purpose," Steve said, handing Tony a burger. "Like all of us."

"And people without purpose or challenge act out," Tony said, accepting the burger and tearing into it. "Makes sense."

"Exactly," Steve said. "They just need to know where they fit in and that Patriot's in charge."

"And we're in charge of Patriot."

It was a system.

"Exactly," Steve said with a grin, reaching for two burgers, stacking them on top of each other, and taking a huge bite.

"I've never been more in love with you," Tony told him dryly.

"I need to replenish the calories," Steve said with his mouth full.

"Take me now," Tony said with a dramatic swoon against the kitchen counter.

Steve laughed and tossed a fry at him.

Tony tried his best to catch it in his mouth, but it was on the floor instead. "I'm just so turned on, I can't help it, Steve."

And it was a testament to how tired the dogs were that no one was rushing in to eat it.

Steve laughed. "I'm happy to help."

"It just means marriage hasn't cooled our passion." Or something.

Steve grinned. "I'm glad that a bag of burgers still works."

"Watch what you get when you bring me a nice, hot pizza," he teased. "Extra sausage."

Tony, don't be like this.

...And that was Steve choking on a cheeseburger.

Tony just beamed. Because he was an amazing husband.

Steve knew who he married, so he could only be angry with himself, really.

"You're really proud of yourself, aren't you?" he asked with a smile.

"I am," Tony said, kissing him on the cheek for it.

Steve grinned and fed him another fry.

Tony grinned back at him, chewing on it. "I'm counting this as a date night," he decided.

"It's very romantic," Steve agreed a little dryly.

"It's us," Tony replied. "And it's quiet. Which is for the best."

Steve leaned in for a quick kiss. "I like quiet."

Tony hummed into that kiss, resting a hand on Steve's chest to chase it with another. "We can have excitement later," he agreed.
