So, Tony and Steve hadn't actually talked since everything. Mostly because Steve was busy resting and recovering and Tony was working. Things needed to be disposed of, structural damage repaired, possible financial changes arranged.

Normal, reasonable things!

He wasn't catastrophizing, you were catastrophizing. And just giving Steve time and space to process things. Yes. That was it exactly.

While in one of the rooms Steve didn't go into very often. It was fine.

Steve smiled softly. "Show me," he murmured.

Tony put his hands on Steve's shoulders, encouraging him to lay back without pushing. Not today. Maybe not for a little bit after then too.

Steve fell back against the back of the sofa, but still stayed relatively upright. Shifting too quickly was still not the best plan for him.

It was good enough to let Tony kiss a trail down Steve's neck to gently try to leave a mark there. Because he needed a reminder just as much as Steve did.

Steve sighed and threaded his fingers through Tony's hair, tugging a little harder than usual in reply. "Feels good."

Tony closed his eyes and leaned into that. Because he needed near That kind of grounding so much today. "You do too."

Steve pulled again, just a little tighter. "I'm right here."

Tony inhaled deeply, nipping gently at where Steve's shoulder just peaked out from under the collar of his shirt. "Thank god for that."

Steve shivered. "You'll have to help me get the shirt off," he said with a small smile.

"Can you lift your arms?" Tony asked, probably still sticking too close for this to be easy. Look, he was just being clingy here!

Steve held his arms up obligingly.

And Tony pulled away just enough to get Steve's shirt off of him, pressing kisses to any still lingering bruises he could reach.

"I'm going to be fine," Steve repeated at each kiss, smoothing his fingers through Tony's hair.

"Let me check?" He needed to right now.

"Take your time," Steve murmured.

Tony kissed him again, making sure to take his time in running his hands all along Steve's skin for any lingering marks.

Steve shivered but stayed still otherwise. He knew how important this was to Tony.

They both had, ah, some issues with losing people. Which made these things even more frenetic than they might normally end up.

Tony let out a shaky breath, resting his forehead against Steve's for the moment.

Steve wrapped him up in his arms, rocking slightly. "Still here."

Tony nodded, not quite trusting words at the moment. Only after he let that kind of sink in, he kissed Steve again.

Steve lingered in it, putting as much reassurance as he could into the kiss.

Tony relaxed into that kiss again, letting the kiss turn much sweeter again. "I love you."

"I love you, too," Steve said. "I'll keep saying it until you believe me."

"I'll get there," he replied. And by that point, it'd be Steve's turn!

What a fun cycle!

"I know you will," Steve said, tugging at Tony's shirt.
