Central Park, NYC - Tuesday Evening

So Steve was back to normal, but that didn't stop him from wanting to go on a walk. And what better place to go walking and enjoy the tail end of summer than to head on back to New York for a date night?

Okay, so maybe there were plenty of other places that didn't involve the heat or the faint summer scent of garbage. But they were New Yorkers and therefore in New York, smell and all. At least they probably didn't have to worry about any kind of alien invasions.

Steve grinned. "Now that I can probably be seen in public again."

"Going that well?"

"I'm optimistic," Steve admitted, finishing up his box and depositing it in the nearby trash.

Tony hummed and leaned into his side. "Well, here's hoping for next summer."

Steve smiled. "Fury has to give us that much, right?"

"Oh, he owes us a lot more than that," Tony replied dryly.

Steve laughed. "I'm not going to stop at being able to compete in a hot dog eating contest," he promised.

"You're just starting there," Tony replied with a grin.

"Exactly," Steve said, grinning back. "Small steps, but not so many that I'm back to doing Memorial Day speeches."

"And then curling up in bed with me and the dog," Tony added. "I can live with that."

Steve smiled. "Well, after we've run off Patty's energy."

"He'll calm down eventually, right?" Would he? Would he?

"I have to believe that," Steve said, chuckling and shaking his head. "He's so excited. About everything!"

"And then he just wiggles." Which was, admittedly, the most adorable thing.

"Which is hilarious," Steve said, drifting towards the taco truck.

"Ooo, they have al pastor," Tony said, skipping a little ahead of him. "It's cute! But one day he's going to wiggle down the stairs."

"Good thing we have an elevator," Steve said dryly, "for the safety of ol' wiggle-butt."

"Maybe he needs some padding. Just in case."

"What sort of padding?" Steve asked, arching up an eyebrow. "He doesn't need a suit."

"Just as a prototype!" Anthony, no.

"We are not having a flying corgi," Steve said.

"He likes it!" Anthony, no.

[heroic_jawline]

"He also likes eating paper bags," Steve said, laughing. "Let's not let him make decisions."

"Those paper bags have it coming," Tony said loyally.

"They do not," Steve said. "What kind of taco do you want?"
