Secret AIM Facility - Long Island, NY - Saturday Morning

After the complete clusterfuck that was yesterday, Tony was going for a tried and true method of coping called 'go beat up bad guys for touching his stuff.' It was super fun.

And he did promise to let this version of Steve hit the armor for stress tests, but hitting AIM seemed like a way better plan. So, hitting AIM it was.

"If you see anyone in ridiculous yellow outfits, they're the bad guys," Tony said, looking through the list of Stark technology on the premises that was helpfully listed by JARVIS after a quick scan of the place. He was going to blow up so much stuff today.

It almost made up for the fact that he was in Long Island.

When Tony reappeared in a far too expensive suit for pizza, his hair was either artfully messy or genuinely mess from changing. It was an honest toss up.

He tossed an MIT sweater at Steve. "I'm not buying it, Pollyanna."

"I'm going to kill the shoulders of this," Steve warned.

Which still made a small part of him confused. He'd swum in Bucky's hand-me-downs.

Which was adorable.

"They'll send me a new one. They love me. I'm their most famous grad."

"So I should just pull this over the spangles?" Steve asked, smiling slightly.

It'd be a look, especially with the red boots.

"Well, I can promise you that none of my pants would hold up if you tried wearing them." It would be an internet sensation, though.

"Very true," Steve said, chuckling. "Well, it's not the stupidest thing I've worn in public," he added, putting the sweater on over the costume.

The stupidest thing went to the booty shorts.

"Well, now I've got to ask."

"I was on a USO tour, Tony," Steve said, blushing slightly as his head popped out from the top of the sweater. "It wasn't the best look."

"So, glitter?" Tony was a cruel, cruel man. This should be know by all.

"It was before glitter was invented," Steve deadpanned.

"Before the wheel," Tony added cheerfully.

[heroic_jawline]

"We had to chase the dinosaurs through Brooklyn with spears we carved ourselves," Steve agreed.

"Well. Brooklyn."

"It was a vast and savage wasteland," Steve said, "and now, I hear there are hipsters."

He was talking to someone born and raised in Manhattan, so basically.

"Oh god, where did you learn about this and how did I miss it?"

"Other you introduced me to hipsters along with shawarma," Steve told him.

[imafuturist]

"But hipsters," Tony said, throwing his hands up in the air as he walked past Steve. "That's a milestone."

"I don't really get them," Steve admitted.

"How far are you on catching up with history? Because the 60's might help a little," Tony, leading them back on out so pizza could happen.

"I'm stuck in the Korean War right now," Steve said. "Catch me up?"

"You'll be getting the pop culture version," Tony warned him.

"Figured," Steve admitted with a slight smile. "I'll wikipedia the rest."

"Okay, so after the second world war people came home kind of realized that dome of them had a lot more freedom in wartime than they did in the good ol' US of A. Women who worked in the factories or military were expected to just stop and go back to that Stepford wife thing. Black soldiers... well, even the military wasn't that great for them at the time. But still a little better than home could be."

Tony had opinions. Mostly because Rhodey and Carol.

Steve nodded, having butted headfirst into all manner of stupidity due to Peggy, Morita and Jones on the Howling Commandos. "So, protests?" he guessed. "Unions? Riots?"

"All of the above," Tony said cheerfully. "Between that and the generation born after the war ended, you got a group who want to change things. Civil rights , women's liberation, freedom of expression... hippies. Howard hated them for all the protests outside Stark plants."

And Tony thought it was amazing now.
