Apartment Above Stark Industries, Friday Afternoon

Tony shot up, one hand immediately going to his now perfectly normal chest before registering where he was.

"Time'z'it?" he mumbled, pressing the heel of his hand against the bridge of his nose stabilize the pounding in his head as he quickly silenced all the data feeds surging in at once. Again, no clue how natural telepaths lived like this all the time.

"It is currently 1:26 P.M. Eastern standard time," JARVIS supplied helpfully.

He untangled himself from the throw blanket and sat up on the couch to glare at where Fox News was still quietly playing on the TV. Because Tony was a masochist.

Ugh, naps were simultaneously the best and worst things in the world.

"I like to date. I like being with someone, but my life doesn't always match up with what they want," he said with a little helpless shrug. "Even before Iron Man."

"I am not exactly the expert on this area," Steve said. "At all. Girls weren't exactly lining up to dance with the guy they might step on."

"Then they weren't worth your time either," Tony replied easily. "Looks are nice and all, but they're not everything in a relationship."

He'd had enough relationships to know that one. Enough failed relationships. So maybe he wasn't really the expert either.

"Probably true," Steve said. "After Pearl Harbor, it just didn't seem that important anyway."

"Yeah, I can see that," Tony muttered. His own version of that sort of life changing thing not being something he wanted to think about. "And now you're on an island where the dating pool is three people. You won the lottery there, Cap."

"They're all real nice ladies," Steve said politely, "but I'm really not ready for anything anyhow."

And Tony had to snicker again at how polite he was. "I'm only teasing. You'll get there whenever you get there," he said. Then added, "Or not. Also a valid option."

Because Steve was still catching up on these things.

"I'm still in my twenties," Steve said with a tight smile. "Not sure I'm ready to give up and just be a confirmed bachelor."

"Ugh, don't remind me how young you actually are," Tony whined. It was definitely a whine.

And giving Steve the out on dropping that conversation point. But shhh.

Steve gave him a quick smile in thanks. "I'm a conundrum," he agreed.

If Tony felt he was good at anything in a social setting, it was distracting people. Or pissing them off. Fifty-fifty, really.

"I already feel old enough with Clint and Jan. You're not allowed to make me feel like I need a walker too."

"I'll do my best, but no promises," Steve said. "Especially seeing how slow you are in morning runs..."

"Oh, oh I see how it's going to be," Tony replied. "No respect for you elders these days."

Even though Steve was technically the real elder here.

"None at all," Steve said, knocking his shoulder into Tony's. "Kids today. It's just sad."

Tony just sighed dramatically and shook his head. "With their texting and their super powers."

"And their loud music and unseemly dancing," Steve added.

"Dirty Dancing and Footloose are going on the list of movies for you to see," Tony decided. "J, make a note of that!"

If only so Steve would understand 'nobody puts baby in a corner'.

"After we've seen all the cartoons," Steve said, watching the robots on the screen with renewed fascination.

Tony tilted his head to the side and grinned. "After the cartoons, of course."

And the scifi movies. Look, there was totally a massive list of movies for Steve to watch.

At least Steve would have a good chunk of time where the TV was completely his. And only JARVIS could judge him for crying at Bambi.

And he would cry at Bambi. Big hiccupy tears.

Steve settled in again. "How did they make this little robot so cute?"

"You're the artist," Tony said with a laugh. "You tell me."

He just designed things closer to the other robot.

Steve took the question seriously and watched the movie in careful silence for a few minutes. "It's the eyes," he said. "They're like a little kid's."

Tony had to nod at that, giving it thought. "And they showed us him alone at first. Everyone relates to being the being lonely."

Those in this room slightly more than the average, but yes.

Steve nodded. "He's just trying to make friends. What really makes this amazing is for the most part it's without dialogue."

Tony was pretty sure that was one of the reasons why the Avengers even worked for more than a month. That and every single one of them being a bit of a weirdo.

"You'll love the other movies by this company. They're good at that."
