Central Park, NYC - Tuesday Evening

So Steve was back to normal, but that didn't stop him from wanting to go on a walk. And what better place to go walking and enjoy the tail end of summer than to head on back to New York for a date night?

Okay, so maybe there were plenty of other places that didn't involve the heat or the faint summer scent of garbage. But they were New Yorkers and therefore in New York, smell and all. At least they probably didn't have to worry about any kind of alien invasions.

Hopefully.

"Would it make you feel better if I made you your own detector?" Tony asked.

"I feel like I'm being paranoid saying yes," Steve admitted, "but yes."

"Then that'll be my next project," Tony replied simply. Just that easy.

Steve, after all of this time, still wasn't used to something being that easy. His face did something complicated and vulnerable. "Thank you," he murmured.

Tony tugged him over to try to kiss that look away. "I've got your back, sweetheart. Always."

Steve kissed him back. "Thank you for the reminder," he said sincerely.

He still had a tendency to get up in his own head when things were getting scary.

A tendency to clam up and circle the wagons.

"It's what I'm here for."

"I don't say thank you for it enough," Steve said with another kiss.

"Darling, you don't need to," Tony replied, looping his arms around Steve. "That's part of the whole deal."

Steve smiled at him. "But I do," he countered softly. "You need to be appreciated, too."

"Well, in that case, I take my thanks in copious amounts of street food," he teased.

"Fortunately, we're in the best city in the world for that," Steve teased back.

"You got lucky this time, Rogers."

[heroic_jawline]

"I get lucky lots of times."

"Damn right you do," Tony said, tugging playfully on Steve's shirt.

Steve grinned. "Maybe I will again once I get fed."

"I might need a drink or two," Tony suggested. "Find a nice little bar..."

"We'll have to walk a few blocks to avoid tourist prices," Steve said like he wasn't married to a billionaire.

Yes, but the tourists.

"Oh no, however will we manage?"

"Fueled by hot dogs," Steve said, nodding.

[imafuturist]

"And halal chicken," Tony replied sweetly.

[heroic_jawline]

"And tacos," Steve added. The bar might have to be many blocks away.

Tony laughed and nodded at that. "Sounds perfect to me."

"You're very obliging," Steve said, heading for the first cart he saw.

"I am a very accommodating person," Tony said, trailing after him.
