So, this was different. Usually things happened on the weekends, not on Mondays.

Which was why Tony was aggressively sighing as he drank his coffee and looked over his emails and messages.

At least he was prepared with clothing for these days after being here so long. Steve, on the other hand...

"J, let's do a rush order on women's clothing for Steve."

"I got catcalled three times coming back from the radio station," Steve groused, stomping into the apartment wearing sweatpants that were clearly too large and a shirt that almost fit, but only because he normally wore size smedium.

"New wardrobe will be here in a few hours," Tony promised. "Just be glad I didn't let Jan pick it."

Steve kissed Tony's cheek, fingers sliding down the non-bearded skin. "This is so weird," he complained.

"You're telling me," Tony replied, letting out a sigh as he leaned his face into Steve's much smaller hand. "At least the dog didn't melt down over the 'strangers' in the apartment."

"Did we check to see if Patriot is a boy Patriot still?" Steve asked, wincing.

"I'll leave that up to you." The poor, poor dog.

"Tonyyyyyy," Steve whined.

Tony grinned, offering him a coffee to make up for it. "I'm sure he's fine. See, this is why I plan ahead."

And continued to be a smart dresser even as a woman.

Steve took a grateful sip from the mug. "Maybe we just agree that it's not our business and Patriot can be...whatever.'

He gave Tony a slightly jealous little once-over. "You look really good today."

"I look more like my mother, thank god," Tony replied, preening maybe a little at the compliment.

"She was beautiful," Steve said, giving Tony a soft smile, "and so are you."

But he missed the beard.

"You, on the other hand are gorgeous even without the effort of clothing that fits," Tony replied with a smile.

Steve hid a bit behind his hair as he blushed. "Thank you. It's still weird."

"Though try not to deck too many people for cat-calling until this ends," he teased.

"No promises," Steve said, "but we should go out someplace fun that we couldn't go when folks would recognize us. Like the Statue of Liberty, or the MOMA."

"Its a date," Tony replied, perking right up at that suggestion. "Though I reserve the right to call you Lady Liberty if you end up crimefighting.

Steve burst out laughing. "That would be a good name. So...after my clothes show up, then. I should probably head to the gym and learn about how my center of gravity has shifted, but it's only going to be for the day, right?"

"It's also normally on the weekend," Tony pointed out. "So, I ordered a good mix of clothing for you for now and future occurrences."

It was a good thing there was a walk in closet. Just saying.

"Thank you, sweetheart," Steve said earnestly. "...how did you know my size?"

"JARVIS." Because of course part of his programibg would include fashion.

"Thank you, JARVIS," Steve said to the ceiling.

[imafuturist]

"A pleasure, Captain Rogers,"" JARVIS replied.

"How do you think everyone else is coping?" Tony asked, sipping his coffee.

"I'm sure they'll be fine," Steve said, "and if not, Kitty'll tell us about it tomorrow. It's just temporary."

He might be less fine about this in three days.

Just a little less than fine.

"Newbies," Tony scoffed, giving Steve a sideways little grin.

Steve grinned back. "They don't have an amazing always-prepared partner like I do."
