Tony was somehow still cleaning up after the party, frowning at the disturbing collection of chip flavors leftover from it.

"Maybe Kitty would like them?" he muttered to himself. Pregnant women were supposed to have odd cravings, right?

Steve's jaw clenched in righteous indigation. "He was wrong, and I would've told him so."

"I'm picturing tiny you telling him that and it's the best thing possible," Tony said, kissing him again, to loosen up that tension in Steve's jaw.

"Tiny me was possibly more reckless than regular me," Steve admitted.

"Somehow."

Steve laughed. "Well, I didn't really think long-term planning was going to be all that helpful," he admitted.

Tony made a disgruntled noise at that, kissing him again in case Steve thought that was okay to think now.

Steve rubbed Tony's back soothingly. "Not planning on going anywhere now," he said.

"Damn right you're not," Tony replied, loving his hands up to cup Steve's face.

Steve smiled at him. "Love you."

"Love you too," Tony replied, kissing him one more time. "Those chips taste awful, though."

"They really do," Steve admitted. "Why didn't I just end up with a bunch of barbecue?"

"Because you wanted to impress me," he teased gently.

"Did it work?" Steve asked, smiling.

"The chips?" Tony asked with a laugh. "No. The rest of your behavior certainly did, though."

Steve laughed. "Yeah? Even when the biggest thing about me was my mouth?"

"You were sweet," Tony replied like it was that simple. "You held my hand."

"You seemed like you needed someone to hold your hand," Steve said with a little smile.

"I think teen me would have punched you if you said that," he admitted.

"Probably," Steve agreed. "It's why I didn't say it. You looked as scared as I felt."

"Still building my armor then," Tony said, patting him on the chest.

Steve kissed him just behind his ear. "Glad you don't put it up around me any longer."

"I try not to," he said, sighing as he titled his head into that kiss.

"And I like to think I can read the signs when you do," Steve murmured, sucking slowly on the skin there.

"What are those?" Tony asked, making a pleased little noise.

[heroic_jawline]

"You laugh and your voice gets all light, but your eyes start looking a little hunted," Steve said. "You have to be looking very carefully."
