Apartment Above Stark Industries, Valentine's Day

There wasn't a massive stuffed animal or way, way too many flowers waiting for Steve in the apartment this year. If only because Tony had learned his lesson about those. Kind of.

He hadn't learned his lesson about making reservations at places that Steve could never, ever learn the real price tag of.

And there were still just a few dozen roses in hiding for when Steve finished getting ready to go. Look, he was doing his best at being restrained here!

"Yes," Steve said. "You can probably only drag most people through one art museum." He smiled in thanks as the next course arrived. "You, of course, are extraordinary."

Tony blew him a kiss as their plates were swapped out for yet more seafood. "Flatterer."

"Just truthful," Steve said.

"This is John Dory. Which I promise you is a type of fish and not a person," Tony said, waving at the dishes in front of them.

"That sounds like something you'd say if you actually were serving a person," Steve said, poking the dish a little dubiously.

"You can just eat the veggies and mussels if you're concerned." Tony would enjoy the fish that definitely wasn't a human being.

"You're sure the French aren't having us on?" Steve asked. "I remember some whoppers Dernier used to tell us--"

Tony took a pointed bite of the fish in case Steve needed the push to eating it. "Tastes like fish."

Steve smiled at him. "Fine, it's fish. Shouldn't be named after some fella, though."

He took a bite. "Tasty fella."

"Takes one to know one," Tony replied.

Steve laughed, blushing. "I feel like I'm just setting myself up if I say 'don't eat me.'"

"Just a little bit," Tony replied with predatory grin.

Steve's blush deepened. "You are a terrible influence."

He meant it in the best way.

"I am amazing," Tony replied smugly,

"That too," Steve agreed, taking another taste of probably-not-a-person.

"So are you," Tony added, digging into the mussels next. "You know. By association."

Steve laughed. "I'll put that on my resume."

"Right below amazing kisser?" Tony suggested.

"That's a hire-able skill?" Steve teased.

"Better not be," Tony replied, nudging his foot.

Steve smiled. "You don't want me learning new skills?"

Tony leaned back as more wine was poured for them. "Not without me."

"We've learned quite a lot already, haven't we?" Steve said, vainly hiding his blush behind his wine.

Tony winked at him as their plates were swapped out for a chicken dish that didn't look like anything that could be human.

"Chicken!" Steve said, happy to recognize it.
