Apartment Above Stark Industries, Valentine's Day

There wasn't a massive stuffed animal or way, way too many flowers waiting for Steve in the apartment this year. If only because Tony had learned his lesson about those. Kind of.

He hadn't learned his lesson about making reservations at places that Steve could never, ever learn the real price tag of.

And there were still just a few dozen roses in hiding for when Steve finished getting ready to go. Look, he was doing his best at being restrained here!

"One of us needs to be able to keep us upright to get to the room," Tony said.

You know. While pouring them both more wine.

"But it's just upstairs," Steve said. "Not like we have to walk blocks this time."

"Well, in that case..." He lifted his glass again in a little toast. They were going to both end up slightly drunk before the night was through.

"Happy Valentine's Day, Tony," Steve said. "Thanks for putting up with me another year."

"Here's to another year and many more after," Tony added with a smile.

Steve smiled back, cheeks going pink. "I'd really like that."

They were disgustingly sappy like that.

"I don't see it changing on my end," Tony promised, reaching over to take his hand.

Steve slid his fingers through Tony's and squeezed.

"Me either," he said.

So many emoooootions today. He coughed. "The food was good. Very amusing. Is that right?"

Tony laughed, squeezing his hand as he leaned back. "Very amusing. Should I ask them to add a nice steak to your meal to make up for how tiny it was?"

"I don't want to insult them," Steve fretted. "We can order room service later."

"With extra chocolate and sweets," Tony said, perking up as a new plate of langostine was brought for them.

"And coffee," Steve added. "Without protein powder."

Amnesiac him had been an idiot.

Tony tried to hide his laughter in his napkin as the food was set down for themand theor wine was refreshed. "At least it was only a weekend."

"Teve," he snorted, rolling his eyes. "Really?"

"It's a good name!" It was not.

"If we have some smarter-than-is-good-for-him kid showed up named Teve, I'm blaming you," Steve told him.

"I think we could safely blame Barton." Just on principle.

"That's a solid plan," Steve agreed, taking a bite of his langoustine and making an obscene little noise. That was really good.

Tony hummed, more than enjoying the noises Steve was making while out in public. Because he was a terrible, terrible person like that. "Teamwork on our part."

"When in doubt, blame Barton?" Steve said teasingly.

"Well, if it works..." One day it wouldn't work. One day.

Steve laughed, taking another bite from his plate. "Why stop what works?"

Tony made a pleased noise as he tried his own dish. "Exactly. Oh, I've missed Paris."

Steve smiled fondly. "You've been here often enough to miss it."

Steve was still super impressed by how well-traveled Tony was.

Which meant Tony had to take him all the places possible.
