Well, they'd had another repeat kid. One from a less than ideal timeline from the sound of things. But it was consistent. That had to be good, right?

Right.

At least that's what Tony was hoping as he'd added more backup plans to his list based on the little tidbits she'd dropped here and there. Because that was just how he rolled when faced with bizarre scenarios.

But right now? Right now he was going to spend the evening with Steve to make up for, well, everything about the weekend. "I ordered pizza," he called once he heard Steve and the dog coming back from a walk.

"No dating a spy," Tony said playfully.

"You ruin all of my fun," Steve teased, settling onto the sofa.

"I'm saving you from heartache!" Tony insisted, settling in next to him.

"How sweet of you," Steve said, kissing the top of his head.

"And unnecessary misunderstandings like all these movies have."

"But those are the best part," Steve said.

"They're ridiculous! Who does that in real life?" Tony's life was, periodically, a soap opera so he shouldn't have any opinions here.

"What, puts a tracker on their inhaler and then follows a girl they've met once to a foreign country?" Steve said.

Then he listened to himself. "Okay, no one."

"Put it in the wedding ring like a normal person." Tony added.

"Exactly," Steve said, smiling at Tony.

Tony grinned back and kissed him for that. "I think it's a good idea that we're in the same, ah, industry."

"Niche industry that it is," Steve said.

"But the excuse of am alien invasion is more feasible for us missing something."

Or turning into toy versions of themselves.

"We haven't had an invasion in a while," Steve said. "Very sad."

STEVE.

"There's always graduation for you to test out the new prototype suit."

Or some werecreatures.

"It is ready?" Steve asked excitedly.

Did it show his entire sternum?

No, no, no. There was just... tasteful mesh. For breathability.

"I was going to tell you over the weekend, but..."

"We were busy," Steve said with a tight little smile.

"We were busy," Tony agreed quietly.

Steve reached out and squeezed his hand. "Did she have a good time?"

"I think so," Tony said, leaning into him. "It's... nice to know some version of me didn't repeat the mistakes of my parent."

"I never thought you would," Steve said, holding on tightly.

Tony was less than certain, really.

"Have you thought about if we did have a kid?"

Steve nodded. "I have," he said. "More so now that I have...more time on my hands."

"And?" Tony asked, tilting his head to look at him.
