Rockafeller Center Christmas Tree - NYC - Sunday Afternoon

Well, it had felt necessary to do the tourist thing and go look at the tree with the mass of people leading up to the holiday. The urge to do this was quickly passing as they were in the moment of it.

Mostly because it was too cold for Steve and too crowded for the both of them. But it was a pretty tree at least. The lone upside to the whole afternoon here.

"We can say we saw it now," Tony suggested, arm curled around Steve's and all bundled up in winter gear that was probably too expensive for where they were. Like he was just asking to be pickpocketed or something.

(Joke was on them, he never remembered to carry a wallet because why would he?)

It was definitely one of them!

Steve drove them into Brooklyn and found a spot to park only seven blocks from where they actually wanted to be--a win in New York in December.

"Did you pick this for the views?" Tony asked because he was a delicate date, you see.

"Only the nicest alleys for you to navigate through," Steve promised, grinning. "Garbage day's Tuesday."

"Hey, they finally figured out containers for the trash this year and I'm very proud of my city for it," Tony replied solemnly.

"It's the little things," Steve agreed, tucking Tony's hand back into the pocket of Steve's leather coat.

Tony beamed, leaning into him because that right there? Just what he wanted in life.

"Love you, too," Steve said, squeezing Tony's hand as they avoided trash bags and a guy yelling about Jesus and taxes on the corner.

He didn't even say that the pigeons were drones, so it was a pretty mild one!

"You're being romantic, what can I say?"

"It's hard not to be romantic in New York," Steve said, stepping over...something. He wasn't going to look what was on the sidewalk in Brooklyn, thank you. He wasn't new.

Look, they were natives. The level of romantic was just right for them!

"You mean in Brooklyn," Tony replied dryly, only looking at the something with the thought of what Patriot would be trying his very best to eat if he was with them.

"Are there other parts of New York?" Steve teased, heading for Jacques Torres' restaurant.

"There's the superior part that we just left," Tony said, trailing along with him.

"The tourist trap?" Steve asked, grinning.

"I'll take tourists over hipsters," Tony countered.

Steve snorted. "They've mostly stopped with the manbun?"

"You'd fit right in if you grew one," he just had to tease, reaching up to fluff up Steve's hair.

The look Steve just shot you, Tony.

"No, thank you."

Tony laughed again, tugging him along toward the promised hot chocolate. "You love me."

"I do," Steve said, laughing, stepping in the shop.

The crowded, crowded shop. Really, they should have known it'd be like this the week of Christmas.

"Next time I'm renting out the whole place," Tony muttered.

"You really don't need to do that," Steve said. "We can wait in line like everyone else."

Tony just shot him kicked puppy eyes as they were jostled by more people trying to get into the shop to line up behind them.

"That's not going to work on me," Steve told him, even though it kind of was.

"It's so many people," Tony said, for sure trying to look helpless and innocent here.

"Who all deserve chocolate as much as we do," Steve said.
