Rockafeller Center Christmas Tree - NYC - Sunday Afternoon

Well, it had felt necessary to do the tourist thing and go look at the tree with the mass of people leading up to the holiday. The urge to do this was quickly passing as they were in the moment of it.

Mostly because it was too cold for Steve and too crowded for the both of them. But it was a pretty tree at least. The lone upside to the whole afternoon here.

"We can say we saw it now," Tony suggested, arm curled around Steve's and all bundled up in winter gear that was probably too expensive for where they were. Like he was just asking to be pickpocketed or something.

(Joke was on them, he never remembered to carry a wallet because why would he?)

"Then I'll allow it. This one time," Tony said, moving to hold his hand. His very much hidden in a mitten hand. "Maybe we can find a holiday themed bar too."

Steve grinned. "That sounds swell. Are we taking the motorcycle, or will your face freeze off?"

"I have a scarf," Tony said, lifting it up like it would protect him from windburn in this temperature. It would not, but there they were!

"And it's a nice one," Steve said with a smile. "Okay, let's go find where I parked."

It was over by the Tower so no one wandered off with it.

"I feel like I should apologize for bringing you into this crowd," Tony said as they avoided yet more amateur photographers for the tree.

Steve laughed. "We both grew up knowing better," he admitted. "Sometimes you just have to do it anyway."

"It's not like we do the touristy stuff any other time," Tony admitted. This sort of thing was always done for people coming to visit. But any of their friends visiting usually meant some kind of alien invasion was happening, so...

And invading visitors weren't encouraged to spend time at the State of Liberty!

"Well, obviously not," Steve said, laughing. "The art museum doesn't count."

"It does not," Tony agreed. "That's just enrichment."

"Exactly," Steve said. "And we don't tend to go when it's full of tourists."

It turned out when you owned a wing, they let you in basically whenever.

Weird, that!

"We should probably do some kind of charity thing there this year." Oh yeah, make it even more insane.

Steve wrinkled up his nose. "We don't have to dress up and go to the Met Ball, do we?"

"Oh no, Anna snubbed Janet one year and I reject invitations out of spite now." A perfectly valid reason for these things.

"She snubbed Jan?!"

Well, now Anna had a very disappointed Steve Rogers.

"Her first collection wasn't well received," Tony replied like that explained it all. "Trust me, you don't want her to get into the whole rant."

"Maybe I'll ask at New Year," Steve said, "after she's had a couple of glasses of champagne."

"Asking for trouble," Tony replied. "Just asking for it!"

"It's that bad, huh?" Steve asked, grinning as his motorcycle came into view.

"She has opinions about Vogue," Tony replied solemnly.

[heroic_jawline]

"Jan has opinions about everything," Steve said, smiling fondly.

"Don't we all," Tony agreed, leaning into his side.

Now that they were past the crush of the tourists, Steve leaned in for a longer, more thorough kiss.

Tony hummed, lingering there until someone yelled at them for standing still on the sidewalk. Because it wasn't New York without people giving zero fucks about your romantic moment.

Steve laughed and pulled away. "I love this city."

"Missed the attitude here?" Tony asked, ducking his head to laugh.
